Article Writing – Environment

1. What Is an Article on the Environment?

Suppose you notice that the road near your school is covered with plastic waste. During the rainy season, the drains get blocked and dirty water collects on the road. You want people to understand the problem and take action.

You can express your thoughts through an article.

An article on the environment discusses issues related to nature, pollution, forests, water, climate and the protection of our surroundings. It explains a problem, describes its effects and suggests practical solutions.

The purpose is not simply to say that we should save the environment. A good article helps readers understand why environmental protection matters and what they can do about it.

2. Format of an Article

Use the following structure for a typical school examination article:

  1. Title: A short and meaningful heading related to the topic.
  2. Byline: Write "By" followed by the writer's name.
  3. Introduction: Introduce the environmental issue.
  4. Main Body: Explain its causes, effects and possible solutions.
  5. Conclusion: End with a strong but practical message.

Remember: Title → Byline → Introduction → Main Body → Conclusion

3. How to Write an Article on an Environmental Issue

Environmental topics become easier when you organise your ideas into three parts.

First, explain the problem.

For example, if the topic is plastic pollution, begin by describing how plastic bags and bottles are thrown on roads, in drains and near rivers.

Next, explain the effects.

Plastic waste can block drains, harm animals and pollute land and water. Give only the points that are relevant to your topic.

Finally, suggest solutions.

People can carry reusable bags, avoid unnecessary single-use plastic and dispose of waste properly. Schools can also organise awareness activities.

Easy Method: Problem → Effects → Solutions

4. Solved Example – Environmental Pollution
